Night-life
Dubai has a lively after-dark scene. Hotel
bars range from sophisticated cocktail lounges to typically informal British and Irish
pubs and Western-style lounges. Most of them serve food and many feature pianists,
guitarists, duos and bands nightly.
After-dinner revellers can dance to the
latest sounds in a number of hotel nightclubs, each with its own ambience.
For a more exotic experience, there are
several excellent Middle Eastern nightclubs featuring Arab singers and dancers.
Elsewhere, talented acts from all over the
world provide lively international entertainment at many venues.
Dubai increasingly attracts top names from the world of entertainment. These include
popular singers and entertainers from both West and East.
Stage plays from London tour regularly, as
do major dance groups from Europe and Asia, while ballet and opera companies from around
the world are regular visitors to the emirate.
Sporting Life
Dubai's climate and first-class sporting facilities make it
an ideal destination for visitors who enjoy an action-packed holiday. The variety of
sports on offer is on par with the best resorts of Europe and Asia, plus some which are
unique to the region. They range from deep-sea fishing to ice-skating, and from golf on
grass courses to sand-skiing in the desert. All major hotels boast well-equipped sports
centres, where holiday-makers will find floodlit all-weather tennis, squash and badminton
courts, swimming pools, snooker, table-tennis and fully equipped health and fitness
centres at their disposal as part of their accommodation package. Many centres outside the
hotels cater for tourists too; visitors will find the necessary equipment for hire at
reasonable rates, along with professional instruction and a high level of safety
awareness. Dubai's hotels and tour operators will assist visitors in making the necessary
arrangements to enjoy their favourite sport. Click on a sport to learn more about the
